Questions I have today

Here are a few questions I have for today....

1. How long does milk have to sit in a sippy cup before it actually becomes cheese? Can I sell it as gourmet in Europe since I use Oberweis milk which does not have the growth hormones in it?

2. Why is it that I can have a thought that seems profound at the moment and then run up the stairs to post it online only to have forgotten it by the time I sit in my chair?

"Fireproof" Movie is Worth The Smoke!

Went on Saturday... a date night for Shawn and I, to see the movie Fireproof that hit our local theaters for one week only. The movie information was forwarded to me by a few friends as we were all trying to spread the word about it and the message it contains.

Go to www.fireproofthemovie.com for more information.

Here is my review:

Storyline: 4 stars (out of 5) The idea of the story is good. It shows the faults of both sides and how one side of the couple could just completely turn off. It was also humorous and suspenseful at parts. The lessons you can learn are well worth the ticket price and much cheaper then counseling! And what counselor lets you take popcorn and soda to your session?

Acting: 1 1/2 stars (out of 5). Okay, I had to keep in mind that this is a low budget film I'm sure. Kirk Cameron was the best actor in it by far! And honestly never thought he was a top notch actor to begin with so this made him look like academy award material compared to the others. Go in knowing that and you will be fine. Keep in mind you are there for the story, the lesson and the spirituality and NOT the acting. Really, how do I drive this home more? Lifetime Made for TV Movies are better acted! Why oh why didn't they call me? I really think I could have done better and would have used my 15 minutes of fame for free for this movie!

Biblical Reference: 5 (out of 5). Go in also knowing that the gospel is not an "underlying" lesson but a large outward one. This is not a subtle topic in the movie. Not that it is a bad thing but again it seems should be something that it is good to be aware of. Especially if you are dragging your loving spouse there who isn't so comfortable with the topic. Could be a connector or breakthrough point but may not if he is blindsided with this!

Life Lessons: 4 (out of 5) There are ton of life lessons. A ton of things worth talking over with your spouse after it is over. I think the 40 day challenge is an interesting idea for marriages that are not on the verge of divorce, too. Might even be a fun thing to do as a group in order to be able to support and discuss the reaction each day. It is a better way to spend $8.99 then the sampler tray at the movie (see "venue" below). Anyone interested?

Emotions: 5 (out of 5) I cried a number of times. Big tears! Embarrassing tears! Enough said....

Venue: 2 (out of 5) Okay, pee ahead of time! I haven't been to a Wehrenburg theater in a long time I guess. The bathroom only has 5 stalls and when the movie is sold out and everyone holds it until it is over... that is a LONG line. We got the sampler for our food instead of popcorn. Yuck! All the food (chicken strips, cheese sticks, ravioli, and something else nondescript that I can't remember) were all the same shade of a pale, off-white color when I picked it up at the counter 10 minutes later. I honestly thought they forgot to cook it when I first saw it. Not worth $8.95, for sure!

The movie can be sold out days earlier so if you want to go see it this one week of showing then I suggest buying your tickets online. I don't know how many people were there in line to buy tickets and scrambling to decide what other movie they wanted to see. They only had one window open and the line got very long behind us because the woman in front with her kids couldn't agree on what to see instead. We bought our tickets on Thursday online and had to redeem them at the ticket window because the little kiosk thing was not working... shocker. Do those ever work? Those and the self-checkout thing at the grocery store seemed to be such good ideas that come back and bite me in the butt every time I finally get to use one!

Resources: I haven't looked at the official site for after the movie (Fireproof My Marriage) yet to much extent but it looks very interesting. http://www.fireproofmymarriage.com/couples.php

The Love Dare book is a great price on Amazon.com right now too! If you want it fast though you may just go to your local bookstore since the free shipping service on Amazon means they pay a donkey to hand deliver it to your house. Okay, that rant is for another day!

Where Have I Been?

An outlet... all the time I am looking for a verbal outlet. Imagining that someone might actually WANT to listen to my opinion on a new toy, a new website or a new TV show. Or maybe listen to my rambling of how I screwed up my child, dinner or the house today. Why would anyone? I don't know. So I started this blog and then... like so many things. I forgot about it. So much has happened in a year. And yet, so little has happened. Compared to the economy my life has been pretty boring.

Let's see.... what debates have I listened to or even took part in this year that haven't involved any form of presidential issues?

  • Organic vs. Regular food (especially dairy)

  • Diet Soda vs. Regular

  • Cell phone use in children vs brain cancer!

  • Forcing Naps for Toddlers vs Letting them stay up

  • Vodka vs Lexapro

  • Allowance vs No Allowance

  • Hitting to defend yourself vs Running Away

  • Too little toys vs Too many toys

  • Pull Ups vs Cloth Pants

  • High Glucose Corn Syrup vs. Other healthier ways to use corn as a resource!

There are many more that I hope to resolve in my own mind here. Or at least get to rant to read later and laugh that I used to worry so much over this!

Issues I refuse to fight are those that pit mother's against mothers! Stay at home mom's versus working moms. Breastfeeding versus bottle feeding. Do I have opinions on both sides of these issues. Absolutely! Let's talk religion and politics before I argue with a passionate mom on these subjects. United we stand, Ladies! Divided.... the men get more power!

Mommy Accomplishments This Past Year!

Here is a quick run down of things that made me feel good that I actually followed through with! I am infamous (around here in this house anyway) for planning to do something, starting to do something, wanting to do something, dreaming of doing something.... and yet... and yet... uh... enough said!

So here are a few of my "feel good" follow-through moments!

Lexi's outfit for her 2nd birthday photo shoot (thanks for taking the pictures with me Erica)! Made her little tutu and had fun making her card.

Lexi is a Bumblebee! Even had a "honey pot" for her candy bag. She sure seems sweet as honey to me! Dang! Can't see her yellow/black bow or antenna in this photo.
